"I have questioned how God could ever use someone like me to make a difference
in the world when I have had such a pitiful past.
But God says He will use all things for good.
The problem was that the victim in me was interfering with God's trying to bring the good out of my pain.
I have since learned inspiring courage versus fostering victimization in the lives of others
is what will change our communities, families, and nation for good."
- Tonya Shellnutt,
speaker and author of Wounded and Defined
In Wounded and Defined: Trading Victim For Victory, Tonya Shellnutt shares her very personal and intimate journey of pain to providence, confusion to clarity, and fear to faith, addressing three major areas to effectively rise above the current state of the world.
Tonya Shellnutt serves as State Government Relations Director at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the largest religious liberty advocacy organization in the world. ADF exists to keep the legal doors open for the gospel so that we can proclaim the good news and His truth in this culture. As State Government Relations Director, Shellnutt advocates and supports strong pro-family policy upholding the tenants of ADF's strong mission and legal prowess. She regularly convenes policy groups, legislators, and other stakeholders to discuss legislation and strategy to ensure generational wins.
Prior to joining ADF in 2017, Shellnutt was a small business owner for 15 years and served as State Director for Concerned Women for America (CWA) in both Montana and in South Carolina. While at CWA she focused on faith and family public policy issues. Shellnutt and her husband, Rich, have been married for 25 years and have five children.
Rich and Tonya are extremely passionate about strengthening families and battling the cultural war being waged against traditional families' values. Families are the backbone of our communities, our state, and our country. When we strengthen families, we strengthen communities.
